}  Unemployed: includes those who were not employed, were available for work, and has tried to find employment during the previous 4 weeks. Also, it includes those waiting to be recalled to a job from which they ad been laid off.the employment rate among college graduate students in China from 1996 to 2005 was 93.7%, 97.1%, 76.8%, 79.3%, 82.0%, 90.0%, 80.0%, 70.0%, 73.0% and 72.6%.

Conclusion

}  On third annual Globalization and Economic Policy Center (GEP) conference, Albert Park, professor of the economy of China at Oxford University, said that college graduate unemployment was only a short-term problem, because the Chinese economy will have the ability to absorb the increasing number of Chinese college graduate students (Graduate jobs, rising wages forecast in China's economic changes).

}  how does it come into being?

Ø  the number of college graduate students has rapidly increased.

college-building booms Vocational schools  —— four-year college

}  The Enrollment Expansion in 1999

}  In 1998, the Declaration of the World Conference on Higher Education in Paris was organized by UNESCO

}  In 1999, the government decided to accelerate the pace of expansion of enrollment.

}  “The number of new intake of college students on average grew 22% annually between 1998 and 2006” (Zhao and Huang).

Conclusion

}  Unemployment issues in China have become a focus of much  social concern, especially for new graduates and returnees.

}  If we want a harmonious society, the unemployment issue must be solved effectively.

}  It is essential for government, society and individuals to make concerted efforts to settle unemployment pro-actively, such as:

}  University/Business Partnerships

}  Develop strong relationships with local companies

}  Foster an Intern Program

}  Work in a cooperative fashion with local businesses

}  To form scholarship funds

}  Create a Co-Op program with local businesses where students may get paid for work done at the business before they graduate
